We had an amazing seven-night stay at the JW Marriott Hotel in Berlin and absolutely loved it. The best part was getting a room for under $200 a night (in late May/early June), which felt like a complete score. If we ever visit Berlin again, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there!
This stunning hotel offers a wide range of amenities, and the breakfast alone was enough to win me over. Once we returned home, I really missed waking up to such a delicious spread of food. I even tried to convince my husband to create a home buffet, but he just laughed and walked away. 𤣠It was worth a shot, though! đ¤ˇââď¸

Location
The JW Marriott Hotel Berlin is conveniently located next to Tiergarten Park, Berlin’s largest park. The abundant greenery, tranquil ponds, and historic statues make it an ideal setting for a leisurely stroll or a refreshing run.
It’s a short walk to the bus terminal and a 10-20 minute walk to various restaurants, attractions, and shopping centers.
You can also take the Rick Steves Berlin City Walk Tour starting from the hotel. Although it’s quite a long walk, approximately eight kilometers (about 5 miles), I highly recommend including this self-guided tour in your schedule. Room options
You can choose from various types of rooms, from studios to two bedrooms, and the beds range from twin to king size. Certain rooms provide access to the executive lounge and may also offer complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and food.
Executive room
We stayed in an Executive room on the top floor, which featured marble floors, a generously-sized bathroom, plenty of closet space, a seating area, and a work desk. Additionally, the room was equipped with a safe, bathrobes, slippers, a mini-fridge, a coffee and tea maker, essential toiletries, and a hair dryer.
Our view was mainly of the rooms across from us, but it was very quiet and removed from street noise. Housekeeping also cleaned our room daily without us needing to request it.
Hotel dining
Breakfast at The Market
The JW Marriott Hotel Berlin has the best breakfast! Yes, the BEST! We were blown away by the breakfast buffet at The Market and looked forward to it every morning. I’d never seen such an extensive selection at a hotel, and the food was incredibly tasty.
They have everything from an omelet bar, fruits, meats, cheeses, pastries, and salads to the most amazing pancakes (I couldn’t get enough!). To quench your thirst, they offer freshly squeezed juices, an assortment of coffee drinks, and even mimosas for those who like to kick off their day with a little bubbly.
Our stay included breakfast because we booked through a corporate account that has it as a perk, but typically, it costs around âŹ35.00 per person.
Berlin Baking Company
The Berlin Baking Company is a popular bakery known for its delicious pastries, breads, and cakes made with high-quality ingredients and traditional methods. It’s a favorite spot for locals and tourists to enjoy freshly baked goods and coffee in a cozy atmosphere.
JW Steakhouse
JW Steakhouse offers top-quality cuts of beef, an elegant ambiance, and exceptional service. The menu features prime steaks, chops, and seafood, and the restaurant is known for its expertly prepared dishes and extensive wine selection.
Bar26
We went to Bar26 for drinks and really enjoyed the ambiance. It felt like stepping into a classy bar from the 1940s, with its beautiful decor, plush booths, and subdued lighting.
Despite the upscale vibe, the dress code was casual. There was even a person who came in wearing their hotel robe and slippers! You do you, buddy! đ¤Ł
Lobby Lounge
The Lobby Lounge is the perfect place to get a pre-dinner beverage. It’s in a grand setting with a sparkling chandelier and comfy seating.
Cigar Lounge
We had one too many drinks one night and ended up at the cigar lounge. We don’t usually smoke, but when in Rome, er, I mean Germany! đ
Similar to Bar 26, the lounge has a classy ambiance with dim lighting, dark wood accents, a fireplace, and elegant decor. They offer a wide variety of cigars and cigarillos. I wanted a clove, but we discovered flavored tobacco is banned in Germany.
If you go there, make sure to swing by Bar26, where they can help you out.
Amenities
Fitness
The fitness center was a good size and usually empty. There was space for floor workouts like yoga and pilates and several cardio and weight machines. It was a bit warmer than I would have preferred, but I guess it’s good to “sweat it out!” There’s also a refillable water machine in the fitness center.
I also stumbled upon a women’s fitness room near the pool entrance. It was accessible one day, but the next day, it was locked. Oddly, the front desk staff was unaware of its existence. Eventually, the concierge unlocked the room, only to discover that it was closed due to a leaky ceiling. Although it’s a small workout area, it would be perfect for private exercise sessions.
Pool, sauna, and steam room
We didn’t use the pool but peeked our heads in to check it out. It’s a nice indoor pool with plush lounge chairs. You can also relax in the sauna or steam room.
Massages
When we checked in, there was a bit of confusion because the front desk mentioned a spa. We hoped to book massages, but there was no information about a spa on their website. It turns out they don’t have a spa, but you can arrange massages through the concierge.
Pets
I just love that Marriott’s are pet-friendly and so accommodating! If you’re traveling with one of your furry best friends, here’s what to expect at the JW Marriott Hotel Berlin.
Capacity: 1 pet per room
Deposit: âŹ100.00 non-refundable fee per stay
Nightly Fee: âŹ18.00 non-refundable fee per night
Amenities: Complimentary bed, bowls, and a placemat
Places to eat and drink within walking distance
Here are some places we enjoyed within walking distance from the hotel.
The Alchemist
The Alchemist is an amazing place for craft cocktails. We had a blast trying different drinks that looked like they were straight out of a science lab. They also serve food, although we didn’t get a chance to try it.
We were there around 6:45 pm, with only a few other people. The bartender told us it gets packed in the late evenings and on the weekends.
Lindenbräu in the Potsdamer Platz
Lindenbräu is a great place to get drinks and food, especially in the evening when the top of the building is illuminated. It’s a spacious place with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating options.
If you love dry white wines, try Lindenbräu’s house white, the Scheurebe. It was one of my favorite wines on this trip!
Paulaner
We ate at Paulaner on our first night in Berlin and enjoyed their beer and wine selection.
Little Italy
Little Italy is a further walk from the hotel but is doable. We stopped here after finishing the Rick Steves Berlin City Walk Tour.
BLESS Restaurant
We were impressed with BLESS Restaurant. It’s not normally something we would choose, but we met someone there and were pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. My husband was a fan of the Saigon Steak Frites. I also like the unique decor and ambiance there.
Florya’s Burger House
Florya’s Burger House is a small, low-key spot to grab large, tasty burgers and fries. While they don’t serve alcohol, you can buy drinks from the adjacent liquor store, which is managed by the same team, and drink them inside the restaurant and on their patio.
This area has several restaurants to choose from.
