We may not be natives of Philadelphia, but we sure do have a soft spot for a well-made cheesesteak! Luckily for us, there’s a spot nearby that makes the best Philly Cheesesteak in San Diego! Every so often, we come up with excuses to head out to San Marcos, a town in northeast San Diego, just so we can indulge in one of these incredible sandwiches.
And the best Philly Cheesesteak goes to…
Philly Frank’s Steaks!! As I mentioned earlier, my husband and I aren’t from Philadelphia, but we brought along his college buddy, who’s originally from there. He was really impressed with the sandwiches they serve and some of the other authentic items on the menu, such as Tastykakes and Days Soda.
Apart from authenticity, these sandwiches are mouthwateringly delicious. I always tell myself half is enough, but it’s too tempting to resist. Oh well, squeezing in an extra workout to burn those excess calories is worth it.
If you like to switch things up, they have lots of steak sandwich variations, such as plain, pepper cheesesteak, pizza, mushroom, hoagie, and the works! All of these options are also available with chicken. Check out their menu for lots more options and sides.
Besides Days Soda, they also have fountain drinks and bottled craft beers to enjoy.
When you walk in the door, you definitely feel the Philly vibe with all of the sports paraphernalia on the walls, and they always have some sports on the TV, which is usually football. The staff is always friendly and moves quickly when it gets busy.
If you like cheesteaks, do yourself a favor and check it out! It’s worth the trip!
